Kawasaki Heavy Industries Group, a global leader in the aerospace industry from Japan, presented a compelling challenge within their aircraft maintenance operations. They impressed our expert jury with their innovative vision for improving the demanding and critical task of paint stripping on aircraft fuselages, particularly for composite materials.

Currently, this process is a labor-intensive, high-altitude job, requiring meticulous sanding to remove paint without damaging the underlying material.

Their ambitious project aims to integrate FerRobotics' advanced solutions to tackle the need to enhance efficiency and to improve working conditions in a "3K" environment (kitsui, kitanai, kiken - demanding, dirty, dangerous).

This collaboration will not only improve their internal operations but also expand their automated paint stripping systems to potential market worldwide.

"By combining our robotics expertise with FerRobotics' cutting-edge adaptive sanding technology, we believe we can achieve a breakthrough in aircraft maintenance automation and also expect to expand our automated paint stripping systems to other industries."

After a closer analysis, we came to the joint conclusion that the FerRobotics AOK 501 is the ideal tool for the project. We are honored to present it to the Kawasaki Heavy Industries Group as the grand prize for winning the Cell Evolution Contest.
