INITIAL SITUATION

The premium automobile manufacturer continuously optimizes its production (f.e. frame production and body-in-white) in order to work cost-effectively and shorten throughput times, and has also perfected the process of grinding roof joints.

THE PROCESS

To achieve an optimal paint result, the laser-soldered joint that connects the roof to the body must be ground flawlessly. Station time and manual labor have been reduced to a minimum to perfect the process.

The perfect automation

The process begins with the automatic adjustment of the suction hood on the FerRobotics ASK to achieve the optimal suction effect and an associated reduction in dust formation. Then the two grinding systems grind both roof joints in a single step, instead of three, as was formerly required. Thanks to our patented Active Compliant Technology, through which precise, constant contact pressure is applied, the laser-soldered joint is ready to paint after this process step.
