"With the flexible suction hood, you can get right up to the edge and into the corners. The constant contact force of the AAK 617 grinds the concrete as desired.

INITIAL SITUATION

Especially for inquiries of complex precast concrete parts in highest quality STS is considered as the best contact. The surfaces of fair-faced concrete, with various tested anti-slip classes, used to be processed in laborious, time-consuming manual work by trained specialists. This strenuous and very dusty activity is an enormous physical strain, which makes it increasingly difficult to recruit personnel for it. The company management was therefore anxious to counteract the labor shortage.

THE PROCESS

Together with accell, FerRobotics and ABB, a solution has been developed that performs the technologically demanding steps of "scanning and grinding" highly efficiently, repeatably and fully automatically. The 3D data of the precast concrete molds are directly transferred to a software and the surfaces to be processed are simply selected with a few clicks - without robot or programming knowledge. The stairs, balconies or other parts are then placed on the traversing table by forklift or overhead crane. The order data is read in, the system scans the component and passes the data on to the robot. The robot moves along the surfaces with predefined processing paths and the grinding tool (FerRobotics AAK 617 Concrete end effector) regulates the constant contact pressure according to the desired grinding pattern or anti-slip class.

THE AUTOMATION

It wouldn't work without FerRobotics' Active Compliant Technology. Sensitive, robot-assisted grinding with the FerRobotics Active Angular Kit AAK 617 Concrete is suitable for a wide variety of concrete surfaces. The specially developed suction hood offers, through automatic opening, the possibility to grind right into the corners and generally has an excellent suction performance. This ensures a reduction in dust formation and thus increased cleanliness of the plant. It was also important for STS that the system performs the processing of precast concrete parts without errors on a daily basis.

THE RESULT

  • Personnel relief and production optimization
  • Perfect surfaces as well as anti-slip classes and reproducible quality
  • Optimal use of the abrasive
